Can you say Heavenly? Strawberry Shortcake with Whipped Chocolate Topping
Strawberry Shortcakes are so much fun to enjoy and make – especially when you try different toppings. Chocolate and strawberries are a natural pairing so why not take that fantastic combination into a dessert! My other Strawberry Shortcakes were delicious — but this one is over the top! This is a fabulous topping over strawberries and I would image other berries such as blueberries. Strawberry Shortcakes are super easy to make which is perfect for those summer desserts. Especially if you can find a quality shortcake or biscuit at the supermarket. This leaves rinsing the strawberries, drying them, dicing and then a few minutes to make the Whipped Chocolate Topping. In a matter of minutes you have an awesome, delicious dessert on the table!
Here are a couple of other options to top your strawberry shortcake or any dessert!
Strawberry Shortcake with Bourbon Strawberry Sauce
Strawberry Shortcake with Bourbon Whipped Cream
And now here is today’s recipe!!
1 cup Heavy Cream
About 3 tbsp Powdered Sugar
About 1 tbsp Baking Cocoa
Beat the heavy cream for about a minute and then slowly add sifted powdered sugar and baking cocoa until stiff peaks form. You do want to be careful to not over mix, which is why you will see some baking cocoa not completed blended into the topping. Build your strawberry shortcake using your favorite shortcake or biscuit, top with diced strawberries and then add a generous amount of the Whipped Chocolate Topping!
Do you have a favorite topping for your strawberry shortcake?
you have my mouth watering!
It is a fabulous topping!!
Dang woman! Making my mouth water over here!!!
ha ha ha. It was so darn good!!
Not a good thing to see first thing in the morning when I am starving!! π I may have to purchase some fresh strawberries. π
It is a great topping for any berries. I enjoyed it too much!!

I had GOT to learn how to make this gluten and dairy free, as I really, really miss strawberry shortcake. Perhaps almond meal is the ticket to a fluffy “shortcake” consistency. Hmm…
Best wishes with that. I would not know where to start with gluten and dairy free. But maybe one day I should look into those recipes as so many people are gluten sensitive. Let me know if you end up with a recipe. π

What a great idea! And such a simple recipe!
Thanks. I just loved this dessert!!!
All of these gorgeous toppings have me counting down the days until we can pick fresh strawberries in May!!
Allison – it was really good! Last year I tried different types of strawberry shortcakes and this one was my favorite. Of course I love chocolate! And nothing like fresh picked strawberries!!
Chocolate whipped cream sounds like a wonderful idea. Love chocolate & strawberries together!
It is delicious! I love the fluffy chocolate and could just eat that!
I prefer these kind of cake toppings as opposed to the old stiff icings. You’re killing me, Bernice!
The whipped chocolate topping is awesome! And I so agree. These toppings are so much fun. I think next time I will add something as a garnish. Maybe a little grated chocolate.
I wish I had this now! Looks delicious Bernice!
Thank you! So easy to make! I cheat with buying the shortcake so I can whip this up at a moment’s notice. π
Don’t we all! Lol
