Realistic Cooking Ideas

for Busy People! And sharing our life adventures along the way!

Happy Fourth of July everyone! I hope you are having a great time with family and friends watching a few fireworks at a local park, on tv or just in your own backyard like we do! I might try some night time photography with my tripod of the fireworks. We will see how that works out! It is a cold Fourth and I have on a sweatshirt – last week was so hot and humid you could barely move. Such odd weather. Greg and I attempted to see the new Tom Cruise movie “Edge of Tomorrow” but when we got to the theatre they were having a problem with their smoke alarm system and everyone was getting a refund on their tickets. The firemen came and it seemed like it might take some time to resolve the problem. So we will try another time!

I made a few new recipes this holiday weekend that I will be sharing over the next week or so that includes a nice macaroni salad that is different than the traditional version; a balsamic chicken kabobs; a fun tomato salad; and a red, white and blue dessert! All easy to make and delicious! For those who do not celebrate the Fourth I hope you had a wonderful day!

Thank you! It has been a nice Fourth of July with some downtime to read a good book!

        OH! anything interesting??

I love books by Maeve Binchy and now I am reading Rosamunde Pilcher. I loved her book The Shell Seekers – an epic book you did not want to end! I just finished The Day of The Storm. It was a good book – easy to read in a few days. So that worked well for me. It took me the entire summer to read The Shell Seekers since I don’t have much time to read. But I might read it again since it was that good. September was really good too!

I am reading the last Maeve Binchy Book a week in winter , I have just finished reading The host by Stephenie Mayer . Also The Speckled People by Hugo Hamilton. I have not read any Rosamunde Pilcher but I don’t know why! šŸ™‚

Another book by Maeve, Chestnut Street, came out this year. And there are more releases of other books coming out this year. I am not sure if the other books are new or highlights of her writing. I have Chestnut Street – I just need to read it.

I have not heard of that one. Perhaps she has left us ( her readers ) a little stock pile. Like you I love to read but lack the time. Have a good week. xxxx

I was on Amazon and saw a few books that you can pre-order. One is her biography which I will definitely pre-order! It will be out in July. Maeve’s Times: In Her Own Words coming out in October is a collection of her newspaper writings.End of Term is her first stage play coming out later this year. It seems someone is going into the archives to find more publications. I was devastated when I heard of her passing. It was like losing a friend.

Yes I was upset when I heard too she always felt like someone I could sit and chat too. I do hope they find some more stories.

      8. Bernice says:

It certainly appears they are going through the attic for new releases. šŸ™‚

Thanks! It was a nice evening!

  2. Hope you and Greg had a great fourth! Enjoy your cool weather while you can!

Thanks Michael! I hope you and your family had a nice Fourth! The weather is a bit cooler so more tolerable but I am sure the heat and humidity will be back!
