Lychee Berry Martini final picture

I always enjoyed Lychee tea – so I figured I would like a Lychee Martini! And I was not disappointed. Lychee is an Asian fruit that has a “delicate, whitish pulp” with a floral smell and a fragrant, sweet flavor. I used lychee juice from the can; however you can use lychee syrup or lychee liqueur if you can find either. Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate either so I use the juice from the can. You can change the ratios and add lemon or lime juice to make it less sweet. I typically do not care for sweet beverages; however a martini is different. Maybe it is the chilled glass. For this recipe I used cranberry juice to add the red color of the lychee fruit outer shell. Of course you could add more for a deeper color. I used Triple Sec which means triple distilled. It is a sweet and colorless orange flavored liqueur. If you do not have Triple Sec you can substitute an orange liqueur. Before pouring the martini I dropped a lychee into the glass. To me the above picture of the Lychee Berry Martini is perfection. I love the subtle red color and how the lychee provides a different dimension as the eye is drawn to the bottom of the glass. A great cocktail to relax with at the end of the day!

1 to 1 1 /2 oz Beefeater Gin
1 oz Triple Sec
1 oz Lychee Juice
1 1/2 oz Cranberry Juice

Place Martini glasses into the refrigerator. Fill the Martini shaker half with ice. Add ingredients. Shake for about a minute until Martini shaker is “cold”. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a lime or lemon. I like to drop a lychee in the glass before adding the martini.
