Pomegranate Sparkling Martini

I really enjoyed my first Pomegranate Martini but this one is excellent as it is lighter with eliminating the vodka and adding sparkling lemon water, which definitely will cut some of the sweetness. Plus eliminating some of the alcohol and substituting sparking lemon water will reduce calories as the sparkling lemon water has 0 calories. So you might be able to treat yourself to two of them! I am finding a martini is a great way to end the evening. At some point the ratio might not technically be a martini- but who cares – the glasses are fun and they are a pleasure to drink!

2 oz Pomegranate Liqueur
1/2 oz Orange Liqueur
2 oz Sparkling Lemon Water
Makes two martinis.

Place Martini glasses into the refrigerator. Fill the Martini shaker half with ice. Add ingredients. Shake for about a minute until Martini shaker is “cold”. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a lime or lemon. Enjoy your martini while viewing more of Niagara on the Lake beautiful gardens! Their gardens are immaculate – we did not see any weeds nor flowers that needed to be dead-headed. Greg and I know how much work it is to maintain just a few gardens and we wondered how they were so perfect. Every where you looked there was a garden. Every business had a garden. There were gardens dividing the roadways. We found out that there is a horticulture school where the students take a lot of responsibility for planting and maintaining the gardens. The one morning there were a few students taking care of the gardens – we got a few pictures. There were a lot of plants that looked rather exotic and we found out that there is a greenhouse where they grow flowers and plants specifically for these gardens. Canada has done such a fabulous job!
