During our vacation at Niagara on the Lake, we went to the Butterfly Conservatory on our way home. Click here for more information. It was an usual place as there are different butterflies that fly freely throughout an enclosed room. It took me awhile to get use to it since I really don’t like anything flying around my head. Of course I was only in the room for a minute and a butterfly landed on my arm. I was not real crazy about that, but I got use to them in a few minutes. Below are pictures and a few videos since pictures will not do this place justice! The butterflies are hyper-active and reminds me of hummingbirds. They fly around quickly and zoom between the people that are walking through the conservatory. They also flew in packs! You do need to be careful because they will land on the floor and you do not want to step on one. There are employees at the entrance and exit door with butterfly nets in case any try to escape! The blue butterflies were super fast and they rarely slowed down for a picture. Then at one point they must have gotten tired because one landed on Greg’s hand and rested for awhile allowing for some great pictures.

Be sure to visit the first two parts of this series to learn more about Abacot Hall B&B, Shaw Festival, Shaw Cafe & Wine Bar, and more. Click here and here.

The below brief videos will give you an idea on how there are a lot of butterflies – and why it was a bit overwhelming when I walked into the room. But it was a lot of fun once I got use to them flying wildly all over the room.

Below are closeup videos of butterflies that Greg took.

This butterfly was on my purse – it matched! Often people were walking around having no idea a butterfly was on them! Greg was taking the video and then I moved and it left. The children just loved this place.

Below is a quick video of me taking pictures.

And a short video giving another view of how they just fly constantly!

What a lovely place for all these multicoloured butterfly’s! They all look special & some of them are really big! Thanks for the mini video’s too! 😄

It is a very different type of place with them flying freely around your head and such. Pictures really did not do it justice from the perspective of how many were flying around. 🙂
