Realistic Cooking Ideas

for Busy People! And sharing our life adventures along the way!

Weekends are a great time to take your turkey sandwich to another level of flavor! I like to purchase a specialty bread and add a special basil dressing. I make my own dressing to control the ingredients. I prefer to make it in small amounts so it is always fresh.

Ingredients
Specialty Flat Bread / Roll, sliced and toasted
Smoked Turkey
Sharp cheddar cheese
Baby Spinach
Vine-ripe tomato
Red onion, sliced thinly

Basil Dressing
¼ cup Light Mayonnaise or Light Miracle Whip
2 tsp Olive oil
½ to 1 tsp Basil, dried
½ tsp Garlic, minced
1 tbsp Red wine vinegar

Tips
I toast my specialty flat roll on a stick-free skillet. It will toast nicely without adding any butter or other fats.

Preparation
Basil Dressing
Mix together all ingredients using a whisk or a food processor. Make the basil dressing at least one day in advance to allow the flavors to mix. Store in a tightly covered container in the refrigerator.

Kicked up Smoked Turkey Sandwich
Spread the basil dressing on both sides of the grilled specialty flat bread. Layer the turkey on the sandwich by folding in half then placing on the bread. Add the sharp cheddar cheese, baby spinach, tomato, and red onion.

Serve with my Kicked up Baked Chips!

Thank you Darren for stopping by and for your comment! I love trying to put different spins on ordinary sandwiches – especially during the weekend. It really did not take long to assemble and was delicious!
