This is a wonderful sandwich that is easy to make for lunch or dinner. You can pair it with vegetables, a healthy salad, or a low-fat soup.

Ingredients
3 – 4 Thinly sliced smoked ham
1 Slice cooper cheese
1 Vine-ripe tomato, sliced
2 Slices Honey Apple Oat Bread (or other specialty bread)

Tips
I use a stick-free pan eliminating any butter or other fats. Cooper cheese melts nicely for a grilled cheese sandwich.

Preparation
Assemble all ingredients between two slices of specialty bread. Using a stick-free frying pan, brown both sides of the sandwich while warming the ingredients and melting the cheese.

Let the sandwich cool for a minute or two before slicing and serving. Enjoy! I would like to hear any variations you have on this sandwich.

There are also a number of additions that can go into a grilled cheese sandwich, like ham, tomato, herbs and spices, or sauces like ketchup or mustard. Some of these will go between the slices of bread before the grilling takes place, and some are sprinkled on the top or used as a dip. Many Canadians enjoy dipping their sandwiches in ketchup or applesauce, while people in the United States tend to prefer their sandwiches with tomato soup or French fries on the side..

Thanks for the information Kaley. Sandwiches are wonderful because as you state there are so many opportunities! It is interesting that Canadians dip their sandwiches in ketchup or applesauce. Recently, someone told me how they loved a grilled cheese dipped in applesauce and now cannot eat it without the applesauce! Thanks for stopping by. Bernice
